YMCA Preschool Sports offer non-competitive sports programs that introduce young athletes to a variety of sports. Our preschool sports programs enhance gross motor development, coordination, social development, and teamwork skills.

Preschool Soccer

Ages 3-5

Rookie Soccer is an introductory soccer program that helps preschool-age athletes prepare for the YMCA's Soccer League. Rookie Soccer consists of four 45-minute classes that cover fundamental skills including dribbling, passing, shooting, and basic game concepts.

Registration opens seasonally on February 1 and July 1.

Dates & Times:
  • Mondays or Tuesdays or Wednesdays 4:15–5:00 p.m.
  • Mondays or Tuesdays or Wednesdays 5:15–6:00 p.m.

$38 w/ YMCA membership ($48 for non-YMCA members)

Preschool Sports Summer Camps

Ages 4-6

We offer a variety of half-day sports camps for preschool-age campers. Camp options vary year to year, and may include soccer, basketball, gymnastics, dance, and more.

Registration for Preschool Sports Summer Camps opens annually on March 1.

Dates & Times:

The YMCA's camp season follows the Missoula County Public Schools summer holiday calendar. Camps are offered weekly during summer months. Times vary depending on each camp.

Special Classes for YMCA Preschool Students

Children in our Phyllis Washington Early Child Care Center can sign up for sports programs as part of their child care curriculum!

Preschool Sports FAQs

No. YMCA Youth Sports programs are open to anyone. 

Children should come wearing clothes they can run and move comfortably in. Close-toed shoes are required. Equipment is provided. 

We offer preschool sports programs during the school day specifically for students attending our Phyllis Washington Early Child Care Center. Talk to your child's teacher for how to sign up for the next session of preschool sports. 

Preschool sports programs are hosted in the YMCA's Youth Gym or outside on the YMCA campus. YMCA teachers will accompany students to sports classes.
